We – Mari at platibus.be  and Ylva & Marijke at resiliencemovement.eu – are mapping who is working on the topic of conflict* in Europe.

*conflict: tricky topic to delineate but in the context of this questionnaire and network it can be interpreted as people who work with conflicts between individuals or groups? that know each other (because they are part of the same community, for example a household, a workplace, a community centre, a neighbourhood, an organisation etc.). Although very much connected, the focus of the network is noton conflict with(in) ourselves nor conflicts on societal level.

Why a network?

The world is getting messier, chaos and social injustice is on the rise, and great resilience is needed…that means we will really need each other, for mutual support, as back-ups and co-facilitators for larger missions. And to continue what we do best: building and nourishing cultures and communities that connect people and organisations with common goals (e.g. de-polarization of society, learning to disagree, preventing and transforming conflicts, collective liberation, … ).

Why Europe?

Geographical proximity increases the chances of us being able to do things together (in real life). Limiting in geographical scope will keep the network to a more manageable size, keeping the task of coordination lighter. At the same time it will allow us to explore deeper the cultural diversity that exists here already (for example by exploring resources in languages other than English). And as a European network we can also connect to networks on other continents for a more global impact.

About the form

We built this form to find out who is out there doing what – and looking for what, mapping the ‘ecosystems’ of ‘conflict workers’ out there. Curious to get to know you!
This form is mainly about you as a person: who are you, what drives you, what do you do in this conflict(ed) world. So in case of doubt, focus on that ;).

If you work with/for different organisations, we’d like to ask you to fill out a different form for each of them. Definitely if they are based in different countries. That will make the mapping a bit easier for us later :).

For now, the data you fill out in this form will be visible to us (Mari, Marijke, Ylva), unless you specify otherwise.

Where on the 9 stages of conflict escalation (https://www.toolshero.com/communication-methods/stages-of-conflict-escalation/) would you situate your work?

The idea now is to organise something like an open space where we can share what’s alive for us and go from there. As time passes by we could come up with another format that makes sense for our work, for example mapping needs and offers, working towards a collective dream, etc.

Would you be interested in an online network meeting of around 1 hour for every 3 months or so?
